Follow Santo Caruso
Embark on a literary expedition with More to This Life, a historical fiction story which follows the journey of Santo Caruso, a ball turret gunner in the US Army Air Forces, stationed at the 351st Bomb Group in England. This project has been a labor of love, meticulously researched and crafted to bring to life the untold stories of the young heroes of World War II and the experiences that shaped their destinies. Inspired by the real men of the 351st Bomb Group, Santo’s story captures the bonds of friendship, the toll of war, and the quiet endurance of those left behind.

A Tale from the Past...
On June 8, 1945, a B-17 bomber departs from Polebrook, England, bound for home after the end of World War II in Europe. On board are ten crewmembers and ten comrades flying as passengers. They never make it.

At the heart of this story is Santo Caruso, a crewmember on that ill-fated flight.

Arriving in England a year earlier, Caruso forges a deep bond with his crew as they face the unrelenting dangers of war. But a devastating injury during his first week in the air derails his plans, leaving Santo behind as his crew completes their missions and returns home.
Now alone, he must confront his losses and find a way to move forward.

Inspired by true events, More to This Life is a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and the enduring legacy of those lost in war—and how their stories resonate across generations.
